I Dare You...

I dare you to find a better place to live for triathlon training. First of all, I live in Colorado where many of the world's best triathletes live and train. Specifically, I live in a community called Bow Mar which is located in south west Denver. Bow Mar is built around a 100 acre lake that includes a .9 mile sailing course which also works well for open water swimming. Your buoy sighting must be spot on since the buoys are much smaller than swimming buoys. I have done what I call the Bow Mar duathlon where I sailed for 3 hours and then swam the buoy course immediately after. Mile High Multisport runs a terrific open water swim program at nearby Grant Ranch which is only 5 miles away by bike.

My home is 2 miles from the Bear Creek trail and 5 miles from the South Platte trail. I can ride to Deer Creek Canyon from my home in 30-40 minutes. I have biked to Morrison as well as downtown Denver and beyond. The Denver Century ride passed within 10 miles of my home.

These trails are also in range for longer runs. The town of Bow Mar includes nearly 8 miles of paved roads and a great trail around the lake. These road see very little traffic and chances are I know most of the drivers anyway so running is free of traffic. Bow Mar also includes a fair number of hills for training as well. I am a short drive from the Highline Canal and Deer Creek Canyon park for even more options.

So again, I dare you to find a better place to live for training.
